Read: Ephesians 4:1-6

Christian Devotions Memory Verse

“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called” (Ephesians 4:1 KJV)

Walking worthy of God requires not only love but also total humility. Yesterday we saw how without love we cannot walk perfectly with the Lord. But, that is not all for our walk with God also requires that we humble ourselves as well. Take for example, if a child claims he loves his parent but constantly disobeying them, then his love is questionable. Many of us claim to love God but constantly disobeying Him. Why?

Obedience requires total humility and in some cases force. But God, our heavenly father, is not forcing us to do anything if we choose not to. All He simply demands from us is total humility so that we can follow Him perfectly. Our Lord Jesus shows us a good example when He was on earth. This is what the scripture says concerning His humility:

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:5-8 KJV)

With pride in our heart we will be far from being perfect with God. Let’s take for example, you have a child whom you sent to go and get you some stuff from the supermarket while you go to work, coming back from work you can’t find the stuff because she wouldn’t do it. Will you be happy with her? Well, I don’t know what your answer will be, but as for God when we constantly disobeying him, He will not be happy. Many Christians will not pay their tithe or even give a worthy offering in the church because they simply believe that it is the Minister that will end up spending it, they disobeyed the commandment of God in error of their mind. Today, God is calling us to change.

Lack of humility is what makes many men not to accept Jesus as Lord. The scripture also makes us understand that pride is a source of quarrelling (Proverb 13:10). Our Christian devotion for today call on us to reflect on the level of our obedience in other to walk worthy of God, therefore let’s ask for forgiveness from God.
