Scripture reading: Psalm 89:6-11
Christian Devotions Memory Verse
There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. (1Samuel 2:2)
The Lord our God is incomparable in all ramifications. There may be many lords and gods, but our Lord, the Lord Jesus, is the Lord of Lords and the king of kings. He stands out from the crowd. He’s incomparable in power; He’s incomparable in holiness. He’s incomparable in wisdom, knowledge and understanding; His mercy endures forever (Psalm 118:1). As a matter of fact, the lord our God is incomparable in all respects. His uniqueness is amazingly different.
But what message does that conveys?
Beloved, the incomparability of God is not for fun, there are abundant of lessons to learn from it. In today’s devotion we examine the implications of God’s incomparability in the area of Holiness and power.
The Lord is incomparable in holiness (1Samuel 2:2, Exodus 15:11). We have a God that is absolutely holy; a God that is far above sin. The Jews delivered Jesus to Pilate for judgement and crucifixion but Pilate carefully examined him and said to them “...I found no fault in him (John 19:4)”. If Jesus can live a perfect holy life, God expects us also to live the same way – a life that is devoid of corruption, lies, backbiting, and all manner of sins. It is pertinent at this juncture to remember that without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). Holiness is the cheapest ticket to the throne of God and not only that, holiness is fastest vehicle that takes our prayer to heaven.
The Lord is also incomparable in power (Psalm 89:6, Matthew 28:18). Our God is excellent in power (Job 37:23), but we must also know that Satan and his agents (the wicked ones) have power as well. The scripture says that the wicked are mighty in power (Job 21:7). Yes they are mighty in power but we Christians should not be afraid of them because we have a God that overthrows the mighty with his power (Job 12:19-21). The Lord Jesus said “all power in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matthew 28:18). Remember that that is the same Jesus who is living in you. We have in us a God who is strong and mighty; a God who is mighty in battle. We carry about a God who is excellent in power; a God who created the heavens and the earth; we carry about a God who rules among the mighty and judge other gods. Beloved, we have nothing to fear except the Lord our God. Seek the Lord and his power and your life will never remain the same.
Jesus is the incomparable God. Without him, there is no way you can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you haven’t accepted him as Lord and Saviour, today offers you an opportunity to do so. Please say this short prayer of salvation and be saved. God bless you.
Devotional Prayer Point
Heavenly father, you are the incomparable God. I commit all my affairs are into your hand, please help me to know more about you. Give me the grace to live a life of perfect holiness in Jesus name.
