Romans 13:12-14Christian Devotions Memory VerseBut put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. (Romans 13:14)Wearing
Jesus Christ as garment is the only antidote to overcoming the lust of
the flesh. If there is any appropriate time to put on the Lord Jesus
Christ, it is now. As we can see, the world is getting more corrupt,
more violent, more disobedient and true love is almost non-existent. How
can a child of God live perfectly without conforming to this evil
world?
Romans 13:14 encourage us to put on the Lord Jesus so that we can overcome the lust of the flesh.
The
flesh and all its sinful desires cannot please God and the end result
is eternal destruction. Whenever we give in to the desire of the flesh,
whether it is bitterness, anger, pride, lies or backbiting, we are a
step closer to hell than to heaven. If we fail to put on the Lord Jesus,
we are only deceiving ourselves as Christians; we are none of his.
Putting
on Jesus Christ involves putting on righteousness, humility, love,
truthfulness, peace and holiness. We cannot do all these by ourselves
but with total submission to his will and obedience to his word. Jesus
is our role model and our deliverer; a worthy deliverer who delivers us
from the power of sins. Matthew 1:21
“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (ESV) It
is those of who believe in Jesus and do what he says that are called
his people. If we self-proclaim him as Lord without doing what he says,
we are far from him and our sin remain.
Beloved, put on the Lord Jesus Christ today and let him save your soul.
If you will like to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, please say this short
prayer of salvation and be saved. God bless you.
